Mixed Numbers
Mixed numbers consist of a whole number portion, in addition to fractional part. As an example, 5½ represents a mixed number. Conversion of mixed numbers to improper fractions may be peformed as follows:
- Compute the numerator of the improper fraction by mulitplying the whole number portion times the denominator contained in the fractional part and adding the numerator of the fractional part to the product
- Use the denominator of the fractional part for the denominator of the improper fraction
