Parallel Lines
Two lines are considered parallel if they both reside in the same plane but never intersect.
Parallel lines are denoted by a symbol consisting of two parallel lines, ||, between the letters representing the respective lines. As an example, the parallel lines depicted in the figure above are symbolically represented as l || m.
Various properties of parallel lines exist:
- For two parallel lines intersected by a transversal, each pair of alternate interior angles is congruent.
- For two parallel lines intersected by a transversal, each pair of alternate exterior angles is congruent.
- For two parallel lines intersected by a transversal, each pair of corresponding angles is congruent.
