Range
The range of a set of number is the difference between the largest and smallest numbers in the set.
Example:
Find the range for the set of numbers 28, 7, 11, 99, 43, 21, 79, and 16.
Solution:
The range = 99 − 7 = 92
Sometimes the range is expressed by simplying stating the lowest to highest numbers of the set.
Example:
Specify the range for the set of numbers 8, 77, 31, 3, 316, 13, 212, 179, and 222.
Solution:
The range could be expressed as either 3 to 316 or 3−316.
